I finished my first Multimedia & Communications project -- an ad, in my case for Psych -- last night, and this morning I tweaked it a bit to turn it into a wallpaper. So, y'know, here it is.

I found that there was a severe shortage of nice Psych wallpapers. Actually, there's a severe shortage of Psych wallpapers, period. There are pretty much no nice Psych wallpapers. This makes me sad. Psych needs a bigger fandom.
...
Scratch that, I don't want a bigger fandom for Psych. I want it all to myself. I stumbled across a discussion of this Friday's upcoming episode the other day and... lord love a duck, I don't understand how anyone could be so anal retentive about a comedy. We're talking the level of flak that CSI gets for being inaccurate... only for Psych. I just... I just don't get it.

I'm sick again and staying in rez instead of going to class, because my university is so alarmist about H1N1 that somebody with my symptoms -- a pretty bad cough, and the tendancy to get feverish and fatigued when I'm not huddled up in bed -- would be kicked out of class. Nevermind that it's the same thing I had last year.
Of course, it's possible that last year I had the flu. Doctor never said exactly what it was.

Anyway, I'm gonna go watch Bones and Glee now.

Hell yeah I am. Man, how long has it been? Probably quite a lengthy amount of time. I can't say I'm enthusiastic about checking exactly how long, so let's leave it at that.
So, well, we already know that I am going to talk about television. This is a given.

Merlin )

Glee, FlashForward, Modern Family & Community )

On the non-TV front, everything's going pretty awesome. I'm in a different residence this year, an upper year residence that's really quiet and private -- much like my new roommate. She's been gone for the past three days and I didn't even notice because there was no difference in behaviour. Which is not necessarily 100% awesome, but it's better than having a totally crazy roommate who parties at all hours. I switched from a Science major to a Math major this year, and it feels a lot more natural, it comes a lot easier to me. I've got some computer science courses thrown in there too, which are working out surprisingly well. I mean, I knew I was pretty handy with computers but not to this degree. Maybe it'll get harder later.

Anyway. I'm going to continue working on my Lassie vid. Ciao.

Chances are if you're a Merlin fan you've already seen this, but it made me flail with ridiculous joy and brought me no end of glee, so I was duty-bound to pass it on.

I know, I keep updating very briefly and very seldom. To give you some substance, it's two months into my summer break and thanks to the economy and my complete lack of job experience, I do not have a job yet. Kind of frustrating.
I keep picking up new shows, and I really shouldn't, because I already have way too many shows. Right now I'm really into Jericho and Heroes, finishing up the first seasons of both. I am currently working on my first-ever fanvid, which shall be about Jake, the lead from Jericho. If you'd told me a month ago that my first ever fanvid was going to be for Jericho, of all shows, I never would have believed you.

It has been just AGES since I've posted, so wouldn't you just know it: I'm copping out and posting a meme. Yeah. Well.

Pick your five favorite TV shows (in no particular order) and answer the following questions. Don't cheat!

1. Better Off Ted
2. How I Met Your Mother
3. Bones
4. Avatar: the Last Airbender
5. Chuck

This shows an interesting reflection of how my tastes in TV have changed. A couple months ago, this would have been filled with House and Prison Break and yadda, what a drama-llama I was. Now it's all about the comedies.
Tomorrow I have my first ever job interview. Tim Hortons. Wish me luck.

Hey, what's up, so today I'm going to talk about House. This is all incredibly spoiler-y, both concretely and hypothetically, so ~beware~.
I'd like to address THAT spoiler. You know the one. And if you don't, you probably shouldn't be reading this at all, since your lack of knowledge suggests a lack of desire to acquire said knowledge ahead of time. Which, you know, more power to you. But I'm a spoiler junkie.Spoilers for House 5x24 (plus random Bones season 3 finale spoiler) )

ETA: I've just realized that I made an incredibly stupid error of reasoning in the above content, and have changed it to reflect this realization. Um, just so you know that I am no longer stupid. Or at least, less stupid than I was before.

You know what I've just noticed? My favourite show for a long time now has been "Chuck", but I've never really talked about it at all. That's bizarre. I don't have time tonight, but I will definitely come back soon and break it down Chuck-style.

I've just realized that I haven't posted an entry in quite a while. So here I am.
Today I would like to talk about the wonderful world of Bryan Fuller. Poor, brilliant man. Keeps creating amazing, creative TV series, only to have them canceled before they've had the chance to get comfy. I finally got off my ass a month or so ago and watched Pushing Daisies, quickly followed by Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me. Fierce spoilers to follow.

Pushing Daisies )

Wonderfalls )

Dead Like Me & 2009 Companion Movie )

Spurred by "Pushing Daisies" and "Wonderfalls", I was inspired to seek out the rest of Lee Pace's filmography. He has been climbing my rankings of favourite actors like some psychotic spider monkey, to the point that I am seriously considering giving him the top spot. So far I've seen The Fall and Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day. No spoilers.

The Fall -- I'm going to sound like such a broken record here. I've sure you've heard it before: it's visually FANTASTIC. The words, they are insufficient to describe it. So I'm not even going to try. I just knew that Lee Pace was going to make me cry with fictional things, and sure enough, he did -- I sobbed like a baby. There is such a wonderful rapport between him and the actress who played Alexandria. I loved the Wizard of Oz-like spin they put on the story, how people from their real life had counterparts in the story, and real life intertwined with the story tighter and tighter until you couldn't tell one from the other. Really beautiful movie. I definitely recommend it.

Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day -- I watched this on the train from home to my connection in Toronto. Such a lovely movie, I liked it a lot. Amy Adams and Lee Pace is a movie match that dreams are made of, honestly. I went in with fairly low expectations -- for some reason I likened it to Nanny McPhee? Not sure why, Frances McDormand looks nothing like the uglified Emma Thompson. PEOPLE OF THE LAND. You must know this: Lee Pace sings in this movie. And plays the piano. While I was watching, I assumed that he was just pretending to play, but I read somewhere today that he actually learned to play the songs. When did pianists get so sexy? I'm almost tempted to start up again. Almost. (FUN FACT: I got up to grade 10 Royal Conservatory piano before relaxing into recreational practice, and then dropping it entirely.) This movie (and now its soundtrack) has charmed me. I always appreciate when Lee gets to show off a little bit more range, as in The Fall; in Miss Pettigrew, his character is equal parts passionate to the point of rage, and infectiously enthusiastic.

I'm going to watch Religulous -- really looking forward to it, too -- and then go to bed. Ta.

Hey, writing from a brand-new laptop here. My old one decided to call it quits on Wednesday -- it was pretty old, time to die, whatevs. So I ordered a new one yesterday from the campus computer store and it came in today, tg, I never would have survived the weekend without internet. I'm sticking with Windows, can't afford a Mac. Besides, this thing's got all these features -- I mean, really, fingerprint recognition? We live in the future, guys!

I took that Political Spectrum quiz that was posted on ontd_p. Apparently I'm a center-left moderate social libertarian. Who knew? Judging by the comparison of my results to everyone's results, my general leanings are pretty average. As compared to the rest of the quiz-taking internet, I guess.

I also subscribed to Zip.ca (that's like Netflix for Canadians) this past week. I'm just using it for TV on DVD, I'm not really a movie person. Movies either don't demand enough investment or not enough from me. I joined it initially to get my hands on The Fall, having been beaten over the head with the adorability of Lee Pace by Pushing Daisies. I got discs from "Studio 60" and "Dexter" season 2 this week. Well, actually I just got "Studio 60" so far, but "Dexter" should be here soon. Matthew Perry looks really tired.

I apologize to persistent fans, but I am just so tired of the damn thing. I'd got to the point where I was reading old magazines during scenes that didn't involve Alex. The writers have been underusing Fichtner ever since his character's therapeutically brutal revenge on Wyatt, and as brilliant as his brief moments are, he's effectively been spitting on a bonfire.
Yes, this may mean that I won't get to see William Fichtner for a while. But I'm hoping that the fact that he is now unattached to any first-priority projects may help Surnow's pitch of the "Night and Day" pilot to a new network. No, I haven't given up. Think about it -- can you really picture Joel Surnow dropping his first television project since 24, just because TNT (*spits*) passed on it? This is the man who created Jack fucking Bauer, remember.
It sucks that we have to wait until May/June for it to be over, though. I'm not sure how I feel about this two-extra-episodes business. Just so long as they don't casually kill off Alex in a misguided attempt to "tidy up loose ends", I guess I can wait two extra weeks.
Hee, icon!Alex is impatient too.

Has anyone reading this ever taken the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator? I did, a couple days ago. I came out an INTJ. The Keirsey Temperament Sorter counterpart of that is the Mastermind. Ooh, chills. I'm a mastermind, muaha. Ha.
Just to make sure I got the right type, I took three separate tests and chose the most commonly-occuring result. The first time I took it, I got INFJ. I am most certainly not an INFJ. Moss is, though. Wave, Moss. *Moss waves* The INFJ type is the most rare (only about 1% of the population has it), so Moss is a sooper special snowflake.
If you want to take the test, I took the test here, here and here. The last one is my favourite, in case you're lazy. There are some great personality profiles listed on Wikipedia under the appropriate MBTI/KTS type, and there are also profiles further along in this post.
I felt like assigning MBTIs to some fictional characters. I chose Prison Break, since it is The Show Erin Most Cares About in much the same way that George W. Bush is still president of the United States.

Technically, but he's leaving soon, and good riddance too. )

By all means speak up if you think I've got any of the types wrong.

I know LJ is saying that we don't have anything to worry about, but hypothetically, if LJ did go down... where would you go?

I got a new layout. I kind of love it to pieces. All the little... details... and the... pretty... and... *sigh*
And since I now have a permanent account -- such a blessing and such a curse (when my mom saw my Visa bill) -- I overdosed on icons. A lot of them. And it has been brought to my attention that, had anyone elected to be notified whenever I upload a userpic, I may have just broken their e-mail inbox. So... well, crap. I am so sorry. I suggest you remove that notification feature, though. I used to use it, but it got seriously irritating.
My N&D-related stress levels have gone way down, thanks to my realization of three things: a) even if "Night and Day" doesn't get picked up now, that doesn't mean it won't get picked up later in the year, because b) TNT is looking to introduce seven original hourlongs to the schedule for 2009, and c) TNT is known to pick up series sporadically throughout the year, not just at upfronts and similarly official-type events. So that's good news.
I watched "The A-Team" today. Dwight Schultz has a hell of a good singing voice. I also watched a ton of "Bones" episodes, and noticed that Father Scanlon from "Invasion" is in... y'know, that episode where Zack discovers graphic novels. The one with the dying kid who pretends to be a superhero, and works at a bowling alley. That one. You know the one.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, by the way. I'm not good about making obligatory greeting posts. My New Year was probably the most quiet I've ever had... I watched Tropic Thunder and The Duchess with my mom, and we ordered Vietnamese and indulged in some alcoholic beverage consumption. And by that I mean that I had a lime cooler. I'm not really a drinker. Tropic Thunder was a little crude for my tastes, but I laughed my head off at Tom Cruise's final dance number. That was amazing.
My train back to rez is on Sunday. Boo. I hate sleeping in the same room as another person.

Augh. *stresses out*
I'm not going to wish you a Merry Christmas just yet because even though it is technically Christmas, it's not Christmas DAY, it's just late on Christmas Eve night. Because I say so.
So earlier today I was writing up an ~exposé~ (I guess it wasn't really an exposé but it WAS because I say it was) on some of the aspects of the road to becoming a series for "Night and Day"... potential release dates, promotional periods, etc. I know. I've been really obsessed with it lately, you have no idea.
And I came across this article, which is awesome and informative, but includes the following excerpt:

And then there are the pilots, five of them, all featuring big-name talent and all in various stages of production. [...] Michael Wright, senior VP of the content creation group for Time Warner-owned Turner Networks, clearly has a lot to mull over between now and the start of the year. At that point, he says, one, or maybe even two of these new projects will be selected for series greenlight.

What?! Only one or two? That's... that's...
And I proceeded to freak out. 20% to 40% chance of a order to series is not good enough for me. I've been thinking all this time that... look, it's TNT, they're looking to expand enormously on their quotient of original content, it's gold. It's in. Turns out? It's going to be a little trickier than I thought.

So how about we take a peek at the competition?

I mean, only if you want to. )

So can we discount that fourth competitor? I'm going to say yes, just to make myself feel better. 25%-50%... I like those odds better.
